The 2019 St. Louis Shutdown Social was a HUGE success!

St. Louis non-profit organizations, individuals, and allies came together to support our neighbors affected by the government shutdown on January 20th and hosted a community meal and resource fair for furloughed federal employees and their families in January.

Over 300 families shared a meal, enjoyed libations from Urban Chestnut Brewing Company and music by the Western Satellites. Also that night, families had the ability to go home with food from the St. Louis Area Foodbank; diapers & menstrual hygiene products from the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank; personal care items from H.E.R.O.E.S Care; prescription assistance from Rx Outreach; receive information about financial assistance from St. Louis Community Credit Union and much, much more.

So much of this magical night was possible because of the responsiveness of volunteers who met at the St. Vincent dePaul Parish Hall that Sunday working and dropping off donations. There was such a heartwarming response from the St. Louis businesses, organizations, and individuals that we believe shows the true character of this St. Louis community when it comes to supporting our neighbors.

See below to see just a few of the sweet responses we have gotten from the furloughed federal employee families after the event
